The open admission policy at HACC is a good thing for all people. If you just graduated from high school or recently received your GED you might want to see what your limits are in the real world of academia. You may not know what you would like to be when you grow up, for many people do not know even as they become older and possibly wiser.
It could be true that you were not the best student in high school but your priorities and interests have changed and you need that opportunity to prove to yourself, you can succeed in an environment that can be very demanding yet rewarding. HACC's open admission policy allows you the opportunity to find out. It could be a complete waste of your time an effort, but at least you will know your academic limits.
Your situation may be different as you could be an older student looking to be better trained in your industry. Trying to become more valuable to your employer and attain more skills that could be a goal that you have set for yourself. This effort may keep you from the unemployment line. HACC's open admissions policy allows you to achieve your goals.
Many people are being laid off due to the economy and you may be investigating a new career in a new industry. Trying to fill out your working years as a productive citizen. The open admission policy should be looked upon as a good thing. This type of education can be the most challenging, because of all the unknown variables. There are many reasons you can be glad that HACC has an open admission which allows you the chance to investigate your curiosities.
When all is said and done HACC is providing a service and should get paid for the service they provide. It should not matter what your level of education was, if you meet the requirements and want to attend then by all means you should be able to. This is not highway robbery, it is paying for the service and opportunity of trying to make something of yourself.
There could be people who tell you, your grades are just not good enough to go to HACC and you will not do well, but if you do not try how will you ever know what your real abilities are. Please do not take up space for somebody that can put a complete education to work. When someone tells me I cannot do something, that equates to a challenge for me just to prove them wrong. This is the best type of motivator from my personal experience.
There will be many people from where you work probably tell you that a HACC course does not mean that much because HACC lets anybody in so why bother. This is just a bad idea and do not put yourself through the hassle. HACC will just take your money and you will never see any return from your effort.
HACC is out there retraining people just to get the money from the state and it does not care where the funds come from public or private. All the people being retrained cannot keep their jobs, how are they going to complete college training. This not only is an open door policy, but a revolving door policy.
My personal view will not change, this is a great program, do not mock it.

Political Ads
My gosh there already starting on television. The election is not until November, 7 months away. Not that this should discourage you from voting but why must we be bombarded with these ads all summer? The candidate's must be crazy, who is going to listen to them now? No one is getting excited for an event that is seven months away. It doesn't matter which political party you are affiliated with you will still have to endure all these television commercials with the rest of us. Please tell your candidate to give us a break and stay silent for at least a couple of months. If you want to have a debate go ahead, but do not wreck my television time with your unwanted propaganda. I do not believe that there is anyone in a political position or via for one who is going to do anything for the common working man. So please shut the hell up unless I want to hear what you want have say. That is going to take some doing because not one of you can do the job without a staff of twenty and spending my tax dollars for your staff doing the job I elected you to do. You better get use to this type of rhetoric because there is many of the every day Joe's out there that feel the same way. Politics as usual will no linger be tolerated by the working man.

Employment is the Key
People what we need to get out of this rut in the economy is something that can kill two birds with one stone. Well I have an idea that just could help our national situation. Our interstate highways are in disrepair and over crowded. There are to many big rig trucks on the road and a lot of the time they cannot see small cars and cause accidents. Why don't we invest in our national infrastructure and create jobs at the same time. Make all Interstate highways at least three lanes and one for the trucking industry. Congress will not move on making the rail system better to get large trucks off the road so we must upgrade the roadways. This would create jobs in every state so no one state has it better than the next, everyone benefits from the new roads and each state will receive a higher tax revenue base for having more people employed. It seems like a win win situation to me. I am so tired of hearing we lost so many jobs but the government will not help itself or the people of our great nation by putting us back to work. this would help so many industries it would be a trickle effect down to the lowest of the labor force. There is just to much at stake to let this part of our infrastructure to deteriorate. I can not see any down side to the positive position of improving our lifestyle. This is so much better than spending money on a war that is just a drain on our natural resources. The war is costing us three hundred million dollars a day, should we be putting that investment into something that is going to give us a return on our dollars? Finally someone must stop the madness and step up to do the right thing to help the working american out. This is a fix that could create millions of jobs that would last for many years. We need to make this happen, otherwise it could take years to get out of the deeply harden recession.
